Big Love From Big Spoon: Our Perfect Date Ideas

As the clock strikes five, our team members transition from project deadlines to dinner dates and nights out on the town. In this season of love, our team names their ideal date night ideas and shows that love (or maybe just a little off-the-clock fun) knows no deadline.

Well, since Enrique totally stole my response, I’ll shift a bit. Richmond has so much to offer that no two dates really need to ever be the same. So, I would want to start a date with someTHING to do like a walk across the footbridge to Belle Isle, an escape room, or ax-throwing to start things off before grabbing a bite to eat somewhere GOOD but not uptight… like Edo’s. And I’m a sucker for a fun cocktail, so capping off the evening at Virago Spirits, The Emerald Lounge, or The Vedant Lady would be perfect.

My perfect date is grabbing a coffee at Sugar + Twine, Stella’s, or Urban Hang Suite then going to a local museum like VMFA or VMHC. Then finishing off with drinks & apps at a cute restaurant like Sabai or East Coast Provisions - this works platonically or romantically!

KEVIN

I swear I've been on this same first date multiple times, but it's two of my regular haunts, so why change it? I love going to dinner at Peter Chang in Scott's Addition. I'll order the dry-fried broccoli and kung pao tofu. Then, my companion and I will hop over to Bingo Beer Co. for drinks and arcade games - typically I'll have a Free Space IPA. And if the date goes sour, at least enjoying my favorite spots.

The perfect date would be to snuggle up in front of my fireplace and eat really fantastic food followed by really amazing…dessert. Now if I could just find a chef boyfriend to make all of this, I am a decent sous chef. Ok, I can chop veggies and plate well. Who am I kidding?

My ideal date would kick off with some bowling excitement, followed by a visit to Hofbräuhaus. It's hard to put into words, but for those who've experienced it, you understand the magic firsthand.
