Kevin Clay
President / Founding Partner
Before he founded Big Spoon, Kevin started many successful ventures throughout the years including Virginia’s first LGBT news website which he sold in 2013. As a hospitality veteran, Kevin has managed coffee shops, waited tables, and tended bar. With this background, he infuses a service-first marketing approach into all of his work. His fresh perspective flows from his passion for building community and infusing the right details into his projects. He received his accreditation from the Public Relations Society of America in 2019.
Enrique Mendez
Partner & Creative Director
Before joining the Big Spoon team as partner, Enrique founded his own marketing agency Design By E in 2013. His client roster includes global non-profits and one of the fastest-growing real estate companies on the east coast. While in school, he studied everything from fashion to business, and in a previous life, he even worked at a bridal shop. Enrique hails from Guatemala, is a native Spanish speaker, and has traveled to 14 different countries. He brings this unique global perspective to better serve his clients.
Barb Lamb
Partner & Strategy Consultant
Barb Lamb is a seasoned marketing professional. Her expertise started in London, working at The Loot, a classified ads newspaper, and co-founding Blueberry Marketing, initially promoting Irish houses as film locations before transitioning to artists. Returning to the US, she taught business workshops and became Director of the Women’s Business Center in 2010. Barb's passion for the food industry led her to support entrepreneurs nationwide and speak at national conventions, including the Virginia Specialty Food & Beverage Educational Conference
Erin Brunner
Business Development & Operations Manager
While Erin is not native to Richmond, she has come to call Richmond home since moving here from Pennsylvania in 2005. Years of working in the event and beer industry quickly familiarized her with the range of food, drink, and music festivals that RVA has to offer. When she is not working as the Operations & Business Development Manager at Big Spoon Co, you may find her at a festival, battling her dog for space on her yoga mat, or enjoying a local restaurant with her husband and son. Before joining the team at Big Spoon, Erin studied Communication & Media Studies and developed an “above and beyond” approach for her clients. Fun facts: Erin loves dirty chai lattes, Halloween, afternoon walks with her son and rescue dog, and traveling (she has been to nearly twenty countries...so far).
Carla Mendez
Website Developer & Association Manager
Carla is the website developer at Big Spoon, she helps design, test and develop websites as well as Integrate data from various back-end services and databases. She has a decade of experience in the call center industry, and has a strong background on Quality Assurance. She graduated from Swinburne University (Melbourne, Australia) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia Design. Carla is passionate about Star Trek, "I am a Trekkie at heart, I try to watch at least 1 random episode per day, and the theme song brings tears to my eyes" she confesses. She likes going on daily long walks with her husband and 2 dogs, and loves cold brew.
Taylor roane
Account Coordinator
Born and raised in Richmond, Va., Taylor is a lover of all the things the city has to offer. For Taylor it’s important to be submerged in art, culture, history and Richmond has all of that and more. She loves being in walking distance to so many great things. Taylor’s entire life she has learned from, worked under, and created bonds from amazing women who taught her the importance of community, education and love. When Taylor is not writing or creating content as one of Big Spoon Co.’s Account Coordinator you can find her with her family, friends or partner who all are a huge part of her life and she enjoys spending time with them whenever she can. Before starting at Big Spoon, Taylor studied public relations at VCU and worked in marketing and branding.
