Secco Wine Bar

When Secco Wine Bar's owner Julia Battaglini reached out to Big Spoon Co., she was looking to increase private event bookings and sales at the restaurant's adjacent event space.

Through building out a marketing strategy calendar, we were able to begin planning events three months in advance. Submitting calendar listings, communicating with publications via press release, and extending event invitations to food writers and bloggers enhanced the restaurant's media relations program.

With these additions, Secco Wine Bar continued to sell out events including tastings with visiting vintners, wine pairing dinners, and cheese classes. Creating a simple, elegant check insert advertised the event space and increased private bookings by 30 percent over the course of six months.

We continue our work with Secco Wine Bar at its new location in Richmond's Fan District.  Most recently Big Spoon Co. helped launch the restaurant's happy hour. During Uncork and Unplug, guests only receive a discount on food and drink if they put away their phone in a special box on the table.

The happy hour received generous buzz through media placements, television and radio mentions. The unique format spread through word-of-mouth and the restaurant continues to see an upswing in business from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
